What other trends are we excited to see more of in 2014? If you haven’t had a chance to read the first part of our series, we’ve already listed flat design, emphasis on mobile use, and video implementation as our first three predictions. Here are 3 more trends we’re looking forward to this year.

Large Hero Areas

This year, we’re liking our heroes a bit beefier than usual. We’re talking about hero graphics, of course, which refer to the main image or banner on the page. This year, we’re seeing them larger than before, either on the top of the page or taking up the entire space, and with minimal text.

Filtered or Manipulated Images

Oh Instagram, is this your doing? Well, regardless of who deserves the credit for this trend, we like it! Set a certain mood by manipulating images to match the rest of your site. For example, if you want to achieve a washed out, vintage look, use a photo enhancing program or a filter to alter your images to fit the theme.

Less “Fluff”

You can never go wrong with going simple. We’re seeing fewer wordy descriptions, as many opt to use straight-to-the point statements or even icons and images.
