Web Design for a Cause

October 18th, 2012

In this age of technology and interactive media, a website is the quickest way for people to learn about your organization,” said Lin Hightower, the Professor of Art from Kennesaw State University (KSU) in US. What Professor Hightower said has explained why many businesses want to protect their online identities by publishing their websites. It is now a common practice even for non-profit organizations to create a website and launch their fundraising campaign online. For major charitable organizations such as Red Cross and UNICEF, it is relatively easy for them to receive the media exposure and obtain both technical and financial support from publics sectors. However, for small non-profit organizations, maybe in India or Uganda, it is definitely a challenging task for them to startup their websites and get publicized. Fortunately, Professor Hightower initiated a project which is specifically targeting to help out those in special needs for web designs. The project is called KSU International Student Website Design for non-profit organizations based around the globe. Under Professor Hightower’s supervision, her students have created professional websites for non-profit organizations based in India, Uganda, and South Africa. During the website design stage, the students had to overcome the technical difficulties as well as communication problems. Even though the whole process was challenging, many of these non-profit organizations’ websites were successfully created within one semester. Please read this article from KSU Flourish Online Magazine for more info about the KSU International Student Website Design for nonprofit organizations based around the globe. The article listed out some of the completed websites (more to come).

Limited budget is always a concern to the non-profit organizations. Therefore, KSU students suggested to Professor Hightower to contact us for hosting support to these organizations. We feel privileged to participate in this project by providing web hosting and domain name registration services to the non-profits organizations.

FACTS: During the past years, Doteasy supported a wide variety of charity events. For example, we have participated in the ORBIS Canada Pull for Sight fundraising events for two consecutive years. In 2011, we were awarded the Top Team Fundraiser. We are also frequent donors of UNICEF and Red Cross.

If you are a representative of a charitable organization and also is looking for a hosting support for your non-profit organization website, please contact us by email at marketing@doteasy.com. We will review your application and contact you directly. In our coming blog post, we will share with you another fundraising story from our office. In that post, it will be about fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation by establishing an online Oscars Pool for bragging rights.

Fundraiser for ORBIS Canada

May 20th, 2011

We did it last year, and we do it again in 2011, with a better RECORD!!

On May 14, 2011, Doteasy participated in the ORBIS Pull for Sight 2011. We formed a team of 25 people to pull a 757 cargo airplane! We did it in less than 5 seconds!! BRAVO!!

ORBIS Canada, a non-profit organization dedicated to prevent and treat blindness, first introduced Pull for Sight to Vancouver in 2010.  We joined the event in both years. In 2011, there were total 21 teams in total and we raised over $30,000 for the blind and visually impaired children throughout the developing world!

Thanks for all of our staffs and family members who participated and contributed to this fundraiser (manpower-wise and/or money-wise). You guys made this event memorable!
