Remember when we stressed the importance of purchasing more than one domain name in our past domain blog articles? Here are the links: Part 1 & Part 2.  In this article, we’ll go over more reasons why you’ll want more than one domain name, and what you can do with them! Parked Domains vs. Addon Domains

all_about_domain_namesParked Domains

A parked domain is a domain name that can be registered on its own without a hosting plan, or under an unlimited hosting plan. When you set up a parked domain, it will forward visitors to your primary domain. For example, if your main site was example.com, you can set up example.org and example.net as parked domains that point to example.com. This way, you only need to manage the content on one single site.

Why you’ll need this:

  • Increase traffic to your site. Make sure visitors go where they intend to by purchasing multiple domain extensions and common misspellings of your primary domain name.
  • If you’ve changed your business name, previous clients who know the old domain name can be directed to your new site.

Addon Domains

Hold up! What if you have multiple businesses that need their own websites? This is when an addon domain would come in handy. With an addon domain, you need to register each separate domain, but you only need to pay for one hosting plan. This way, you can have several sites with unique content while sharing just one hosting plan.

Why you’ll need this:

  • Save money! Pay for just one hosting plan, but have individual content for each site.
