There is no doubt that blogs are one of the most significant and important forms of Internet media. There are currently hundreds and thousands of blogs on the Internet, from personal online diaries to new breaking stories, documentaries and commentaries. Some blogs are meant for personal viewing, while some others have accumulated an audience large enough to attract advertising. These blogs then becomes a full-time moneymaker, and blogging becomes a decent paying job.

So, enough said, let’s build a blog!

The Doteasy Hosted Blog?

Yes, the Doteasy Hosted Blog is a new application that we have just rolled out. It’s similar to our Doteasy Hosted Forum which many of you have tried or are currently using. It’s free to us and works on all our web hosting plans. There is no scripting or database required. What’s different is that with the Doteasy Hosted Blog, you now have more customization flexibility.

For instructions on how to activate your blog, you can visit our tutorial page.

So, assuming you have already activated your blog account, let’s begin!

Your Blog URL

Your blog URL will be “apps.yourdomain.com/blog”.

So what if you don’t like this URL? Well, unfortunately, we cannot change it. But, there is a workaround you can consider.

$0 Hosting package

1. If you want your blog URL to be yourdomain.com/blog, all you need to do is create a blog folder on your FTP account. Then, using a text-editor, copy and paste the following:

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<META HTTP-EQUIV=’Refresh’ CONTENT=’0;url=http://apps.yourdomain.com/blog‘>
</HEAD>
</HTML>

Save this file as index.htm (or index.html).

2. Upload this index.htm file to the /blog directory on your FTP account.

What this does is it allows you to advertise yourdomain.com/blog as the URL of your blog (which is easier for your visitors to remember), but behind the scene, redirects your visitors to the URL where your blog actually resides, apps.yourblog.com/blog.

Ultra/Unlimited Hosting packages

Your hosting plan allows you to setup subdomains!  blog.yourdomain.com does look cooler.

1. Login to your Site Admin Panel and create the subdomain “blog”.

2. Then, follow the same steps as the $0 Hosting package. Create the index.htm file and upload it to your blog subdomain.
